I just came across a quote by Edith Wharton which could answer this question.
"There are two ways of spreading light: To be the candle or the mirror that reflects it."
It was a rather spontaneous inspiration which lead me towards painting Michelangelo's famous image of Christ and his Mother Mary emerging from Pluto which is also known as the planet of spiritual enlightenment and self awakening. I completed it just in time for Easter to remind ourselves of one of the most important achievements for humanity accomplished by this deity through his resurrection.
It is the second painting of my planet series which began with this portrait of myself being inspired by Shri Saraswati, the Goddess of Creativity who plays the Veena.
